Arriving at your destination

After you leave the plane, you’ll retrieve your luggage and then go through customs.  Have all of your documents ready, your passport, immigrations forms, customs forms, etc.  Make sure to put them back in a safe place and put them in either your room safe or the hotel safe when you arrive.  Apple Vacations will have a person waiting in the outer lobby of the airport.  Check your Apple documents,  most of the time they will include transfers to your hotel.  The Apple rep will be holding up a sign with the Apple logo.  They’ll check your documents and get you on your way to your hotel.  Once you arrive at the hotel, you’ll get checked in and you’re on your way.  If you don’t like your room, go immediately to the front desk and ask to speak to a manager.  If that doesn’t help, call your Apple rep, the phone number is usually somewhere in your ticket packet.  The rule of thumb is to be insistent but not belligerent.  Persistence sometimes pays off too.  I’ve been know to visit the front desk many times if one of my customers has a malfunctioning air conditioner.   Sometimes they will do as I ask just to get me out of their hair.  You also have to understand that you’re not in Kansas anymore either, Dorothy.  Some localities have electricity shortages, heavy rain, water shortages, etc.  Usually the hotel and its staff are doing everything they can from their end to make your stay comfortable.  If it becomes so bad its unbearable, ask your Apple rep about moving you to another hotel.

The Apple rep will usually have an orientation meeting the next morning.  They’ll explain all the advantages of the hotel and give you a soft sell on purchasing tours.  You have other options when it comes to tours, the hotel may even sell their own.  The Apple rep or the hotel is your best shot at not getting ripped off.  The ATV ride from the guy down the street may turn out to be a bicycle and not the Honda you were envisioning.  I always put these tours on my credit card.  You’ll have more options later if they don’t deliver as promised.  There are generally no refunds when booking tours.  Be wary of booking tours too far in advance if you would absolutely not go if raining or cold.  Popular tours may fill up fast.
